ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan relief consignment carrying one hundred tonnes of essential supplies for the people of Gaza has reached Egypt, as the country continues its humanitarian support for Palestinians trapped in the war-torn enclave.
The shipment, dispatched through a chartered aircraft on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, was arranged by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in collaboration with Al-Khidmat Foundation.
The plane landed at El-Arish International Airport, where officials from the Pakistan Embassy in Cairo received the consignment before handing it over to the Egyptian Red Crescent Society for onward transport into Gaza.
The relief cargo included flour, cooking oil, ready-to-eat meals, jam and fruit cocktails — vital food staples for civilians struggling under blockade and bombardment. The supplies were sent from Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, following a send-off ceremony attended by Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, along with NDMA and Al-Khidmat Foundation officials.
According to Pakistan’s Embassy in Cairo, this latest shipment brings the total volume of humanitarian assistance dispatched by Pakistan to Gaza residents to 1,915 tonnes. Additional consignments are scheduled to be delivered in the coming days.
Officials emphasized that both the government and the people of Pakistan, with the active contributions of Al-Khidmat Foundation, remain committed to providing sustained humanitarian relief to Palestinians.
