This upcoming trip is being seen as a reciprocal visit after US CENTCOM Commander visited Pakistan in late July.

Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir is expected to embark on another visit to the United States, following his widely discussed luncheon with President Donald Trump in June.

This upcoming trip is being seen as a reciprocal visit after US CENTCOM Commander General Michael Erik Kurilla visited Pakistan in late July.

During his trip, General Kurilla was conferred with the Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military), one of Pakistan’s highest military honors, a gesture that underscored the growing strategic rapport between the two countries.

General Kurilla, in a recent congressional hearing, lauded Pakistan as an “outstanding partner” in the fight against terrorism and acknowledged its vital role in promoting regional peace and stability.

Field Marshal Munir had earlier visited Washington in June, where he was hosted for a special luncheon at the White House by President Trump, an honor rarely extended to military leaders and typically reserved for heads of state.

These recent high-level engagements are being viewed as the beginning of a new era of cooperation, following a prolonged period of diplomatic unease between Islamabad and Washington.

Further cementing this warming of ties, Pakistan and the US recently signed a landmark trade agreement aimed at enhancing bilateral economic cooperation. The deal promises expanded market access, increased foreign investment, and closer collaboration in key sectors, including energy.

Announcing the agreement on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, “We have just concluded a deal with the country of Pakistan, whereby Pakistan and the United States will work together on developing their massive oil reserves.”

As part of the deal, the Trump administration also agreed to reduce tariffs on Pakistani exports, from 29% to 19%
