Apple has recently introduced the thinnest iPhone in its iPhone series, called the “iPhone Air,” and its design is by none other than Bangladeshi Muslim Abidur Chaudhry.
Abidur Chaudhry was born and raised in London. He received a bachelor’s degree in Product Design and Technology from Loughborough University in the UK. During his studies, he received several awards.
Later, he worked in various firms in the UK, such as Cambridge Corventa, Consultants and Layer Design. From 2018 to 2019, he also ran his own consultancy firm called Abidur Chaudhry Design, which included startups and design agencies.
However, since January 2019, he has been working as an industrial designer at Apple. Abidur Chaudhry played a key role in developing the design of the iPhone Air, which specifically includes the phone’s thinness, lightweight structure and aesthetic aspects.
The iPhone Air is about 5.6mm thick and uses ceramic shields on the front and back. The frame is made of titanium. The body included challenges such as designing the camera module, arranging internal components, and improving the battery and AI capabilities, which were all successfully completed.
