Water situation keeps fluctuating at Sindh barrages

The Provincial Rain and Flood Emergency Monitoring Cell has released the latest data on the inflow and outflow of water in various barrages and river of Sindh.

The data reveals that there has been a drastic change in the water situation in the province.

Indus River water inflow and outflow have keep fluctuations. Sukkur Barrage has also experienced an extraordinary change in water level which is affecting the surrounding areas.

The inflow of water at Trimmum barrage increased by 112,576 cusecs to 488,169 cusecs in the last 12 hours, with the release of water at the barrage also increasing to 488,169 cusecs.

The inflow and outflow of water at Panjnad barrage was recorded at 345,047 cusecs, which is also affecting conditions at Guddu and Sukkur barrages.

These barrages are among the most important barrages of Sindh where the flow of water is constantly monitored.

Guddu barrage recorded an inflow of 366,151 cusecs and an outflow of 328,487 cusecs and is likely to experience a major flood today.

There has been a slight decrease in the water level but the water level is still changing which may increase the flood situation in local areas.

The inflow of water at Sukkur Barrage was 329,990 cusecs and the outflow was 281,985 cusecs, due to which the water level in Sukkur Barrage has also fluctuated dramatically, affecting the surrounding areas.

The Kotri barrage recorded an inflow of 245,452 cusecs and an outflow of 226,497 cusecs, which is higher than normal, and has also affected the flow of water in rivers.

A fresh surge in floodwaters from the River Sutlej has caused severe damage in Bahawalpur as embankments were breached and floodwaters inundated nearby settlements.
