Two wanted criminals, including a man accused of snatching earrings from an elderly women earlier this week, were killed in an alleged police encounter in the Manawan area.

The deceased were identified as Farasat Ali and his accomplice Jon Shah, both of whom were wanted in several cases of robbery and street crimes across Punjab.

Officials said the encounter occurred when a team of the Crime Control Department (CCD) Cantt attempted to arrest the men.

The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police, prompting retaliatory fire in which both were killed.

According to the police, an SHO, Atif Zulfiqar, escaped injury as bullets struck his bulletproof vest.

The police stated that Farasat was involved in a recent incident in Ghaziabad area where earrings were snatched from an elderly women. The footage of the incident went viral on social media, prompting Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to order the arrest of the criminals.

CCD officials said both the deceased had a history of serious offences in Lahore and other districts.
