An Islamabad court on Wednesday granted bail to Hassan Zahid, accused of attempting to abduct social media influencer Samiya Hijab, in one of the two cases filed against him.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Aamir Zia approved the bail against surety bonds of Rs20,000. However, Zahid remains on a five-day physical remand in a separate case registered at Shalimar Police Station.
Zahid faces charges of harassment, assault, attempted abduction, and threats to life. Hijab, a TikTok influencer, has alleged that Zahid harassed her for months with threats and demands to marry him, before appearing outside her home, snatching her phone, trying to force her into his car, and stealing Rs45,000.
Police said they are working to recover the weapon allegedly used in the crime, along with two cars and the stolen items. They also confirmed that Hijab’s medical examination showed signs of physical assault.
In a video message, Hijab appealed for police protection, drawing parallels with the case of TikToker Sana, who was killed earlier this year after rejecting a marriage proposal. Police have since deployed security outside her home following fresh death threats.
