The Sindh government has waived all fees for the issuance of death certificates, with the provincial cabinet formally approving the decision.
According to a statement issued after the Sindh cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, the cabinet approved the abolition of registration fees for death certificates at the municipal, union council, and town committee levels across the province.
A government spokesperson said the decision follows the cabinet’s earlier approval in September 2024 to make birth registration free of charge, as part of efforts to strengthen the province’s Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system.

The chief minister said the Sindh government, in collaboration with the United Nations and international partners, would continue to enhance the CRVS framework to ensure better record management of key life events.
Under the new arrangement, the Sindh government will bear the National Database and Registration Authority’s service charges, allowing citizens to obtain death certificates without any fee.
Shah said the initiative was designed to facilitate citizens and promote digital registration of vital events under the Sindh Local Government Act, 2013. He added that the measure would further strengthen the province’s CRVS system and improve service delivery to the public.
