Extended festivities to honour Pakistan’s decisive May response

Karachi | July 30, 2025 — Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced a 14-day series of Independence Day celebrations, running from August 1 to 14, under the theme “Marka-e-Haq.”

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi alongside Senior Ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, the Chief Minister stated that the expanded celebrations represent a unified effort by both federal and provincial governments to mark Pakistan’s resilience and national achievements — particularly the military’s decisive response in May.

“August 14 won’t be limited to a single day this year,” Shah said. “Those who choose not to participate in these celebrations will be noticed by the people.”

He assured that law enforcement agencies, including Sindh Police, Rangers, and the Pakistan Army, are fully prepared to ensure public safety throughout the events. Despite potential security threats, Shah reaffirmed that no programs would be cancelled out of fear.

“We have never accepted defeat,” he added. “Sindh has always led from the front, and will continue to do so.”

The Chief Minister also called on media outlets to actively support the campaign by showcasing decorated homes, vehicles, shops, and public buildings as symbols of national pride.

In a related development, Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori met with a delegation of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), led by Senior Vice President Saquib Fayyaz Magoon, to discuss preparations for the celebration.

Tessori stressed the critical role of the business community in the success of the “Marka-e-Haq” campaign, calling it a collective responsibility to celebrate the nation’s independence with unity and dignity. The FPCCI delegation pledged full support and participation in the planned activities.

Shah also hinted at potential cabinet reshuffles, saying, “When I decide to make changes, I will — and everyone will know.”
