A police constable was injured in a shootout with armed suspects in Korangi, while Ibrahim Hyderi police arrested an alleged robber, in an injured condition, following an exchange of fire on Wednesday.

SHO Korangi, Inspector Adeel Afzal, reported that officers on routine patrol signaled two motorcycle-borne individuals to stop, but instead of complying, the riders opened fire. A shootout ensued, during which Constable Abdul Samad Khan, 31, sustained bullet injuries. He was shifted to a hospital and his condition is reported to be out of danger. The suspects, however, managed to flee while continuing to fire at the police.

Separately, Ibrahim Hyderi police engaged suspects during a late-night patrol. During the encounter, one injured robber, 32-year-old Ali Ahmed, was apprehended, while his accomplice fled the scene. The injured suspect was shifted to Jinnah Hospital for treatment, and police recovered a pistol with ammunition, a mobile phone, and cash from his possession.

Further investigations are underway, along with efforts to trace the absconding suspects.
