The Sindh High Court (SHC) has extended its interim injunction against the Provincial Ombudsman’s decision to remove K-Electric CEO Moonis Alvi from his position until next hearing on September 12.

This ruling came during a hearing before a two-member bench led by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro. Alvi, represented by his lawyer Barrister Abid Zuberi, has been instructed to submit a written reply to the court.

During the proceedings, a representative of the Provincial Ombudsman argued that Alvi’s petition was inadmissible because a jurisdiction issue was already pending before the Supreme Court. The Ombudsman and the female complainant’s lawyer both submitted their own written replies.

Barrister Abid Zuberi informed the court that Alvi had already filed an appeal with the Sindh governor. Justice Kalhoro questioned how the CEO could be removed from his post before a decision was reached on the appeal.

The court observed, such a severe punishment could only be implemented after a legal decision on the appeal was made. While the complainant’s lawyer claimed that governor had already dismissed the appeal.
