A man accused of raping and blackmailing children and girls was killed in an alleged police encounter with the Crime Control Department (CCD) Lyallpur Town, while two suspected robbers were injured in a CCD Iqbal Town operation.

According to the police, CCD Lyallpur Town In-charge Inspector Siddique Cheema led a raid near Satyana Road, TNT Colony, to arrest Mohsin, son of Yasin, a resident of Kot Muhammad.

The suspect had previously escaped from police custody in a case of rape, criminal intimidation, and other offences.

Police said the accused, along with accomplices, resisted arrest and exchanged gunfire for about 30 minutes.

During a search operation after the clash, Mohsin was found injured. He was being transferred to a hospital by ASI Ashiq when he died en route.

CCD officials stated that Mohsin was involved in raping more than 20 minors at gunpoint and blackmailing them using videos recorded in secret.

His body was shifted to a mortuary for post-mortem examination.

In a separate incident, CCD Iqbal Town In-charge Inspector Umar Sarfraz Warraich led a raid near Ayub Colony, Factory Area, to arrest two alleged robbers – Hamza Maqsood and Adeel.

Police said the suspects opened fire on the CCD team.

In the crossfire, both men were wounded by shots fired by their own accomplices and were later given medical treatment.

The police said Hamza escaped with accomplices during the operation, while Adeel jumped from a police vehicle, fell into a deep ditch, and broke his leg.

Both were later injured in the left leg during further attempts to capture them and were shifted to hospital.

Authorities said Adeel is linked to 21 robbery cases, while Hamza is wanted in 15 cases.

The suspects were also accused of shooting and injuring a courier service employee during a robbery in Mansoorabad about two and a half months ago.
