Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated eco-friendly electric buses in Sargodha on Friday.

At the ceremony, she stated that 105 buses have been allocated for the four districts of the Sarghoda division, which include Bhakkar, Mianwali, Khushab, and 60 electric buses will run in Sargodha city. For now, 33 buses will run on four separate routes. A charging station has also been established in Sargodha for these buses.

Congratulating the people of Sargodha, she said the initiative reflects the Punjab Government’s priority to uplift smaller cities by providing quality transport facilities.

The buses are equipped with Wi-Fi, air conditioning, wheelchair ramps, and charging ports. According to her, there will be dedicated seating areas for women, and the fare for the electric bus service will be set at Rs 20. It will offer free travel to children, students, women, and senior citizens.

This initiative is a move towards cheaper, greener, and eco-friendly transport solutions.
