Russian company Neiry has started implanting neuro-implant chips in cows to boost milk production.
The project, called Project Horn, aims to target parts of the cows’ brains that are linked to hunger, stress, the reproductive system, etc.
The implants involve a stimulator that is attached to the back of the head, and from here electrodes are sent to specific parts of the brain that will be stimulated by electrical signals.
The tests have begun in the Sverdlovsk region of Russia and have initially been conducted on about five cows.
The company claims that it is looking at ways to reduce the cost of the implants so that they can be commercially viable.
