A robber wanted in over 100 cases was killed in an exchange of fire with the Crime Control Division (CCD) Lyallpur Town Police late Monday night.

Three of his accomplices managed to flee the scene. Inspector Siddique Cheema, In-charge of CCD Lyallpur Town, received intelligence that the suspect, Nabil — son of Bashir Ahmed and a resident of Chak 163 RB Bulgan — was hiding in the Mahie Shah Cemetery with his group.

A police team raided the site, prompting the suspects to open fire on the police party. During the crossfire, Nabil was critically injured — reportedly by bullets fired by his own accomplices — and later died at Allied Hospital.

His body has been shifted to the mortuary for postmortem.

Nabil had a long record of serious crimes including robbery, dacoity, and attempted murder.

He had recently escaped from Nishatabad Police custody while being transported for a recovery operation in the 47 Mansooran area, under the supervision of ASI Shahbaz.

Police registered a case against the deceased under multiple sections including escape from custody and attempted murder.
