A retired army major has been accused of subjecting his wife to years of domestic abuse and harassing her family through alleged false cases.

At a press conference at the Badin Press Club, Ameer Haider — popularly known as Haidari Burger Wala — and his wife Shabana claimed their daughter, Muqaddas Fatima, was married four years ago to Major (retd) Anwar Hussain Khawaja when she was just 17-years-old.

According to the parents, since the marriage the retired officer has repeatedly abused his wife, prevented her from bearing children, and even forced the termination of a three-month pregnancy. They alleged that he frequently mistreats her under the influence of drugs and has issued death threats against the entire family.

The family further claimed that Khawaja recently lodged a false FIR against their son, Anush Mehdi, leading to police raids on their house without warrants. The parents said they have CCTV footage proving these raids.

Appealing for justice, the family urged the chief justice, the army chief, the corps commander, the inspector general of Sindh Police, SSP Badin, and other senior officials to intervene, ensure their daughter’s safety, and hold Khawaja accountable.
