The Punjab Home Department on Friday unveiled a comprehensive security plan to ensure peace and order during Eid Miladun Nabi (peace be upon him), directing law enforcement agencies and district administrations across the province to implement measures on the pattern of Muharram arrangements.
A spokesperson for the department said strict instructions have been issued to curb the misuse of loudspeakers, wall chalking, hate speech and aerial firing.
Additional police personnel will be deployed at mosques, shrines and religious sites to safeguard citizens.
Security for processions, gatherings, and public events will include walk-through gates, metal detectors, and surveillance cameras linked to district control rooms and the Punjab Safe Cities Authority for real-time monitoring.
Registered volunteers will assist in crowd management, while law enforcement agencies have been instructed to prevent any provocative or sectarian speeches. Unattended vehicles near procession routes will be removed immediately.
The plan makes deployment of female police officers mandatory for women’s security checks. Use of unauthorised drones has been banned, though aerial surveillance of major processions will be conducted through quadcopters.
Peace and Public Liaison Committees will remain active, and police patrolling along routes will be intensified.
Individuals on the Fourth Schedule and other suspects will remain under close watch.
Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, the Health Department, and other agencies have been placed on high alert.
Control rooms in all districts will operate round the clock and remain in constant contact with the central control room at the Home Department.
Traffic plans and designated routes will be issued for large processions.
Parking areas will be established at safe distances from event venues. Cyber surveillance teams will actively monitor social media to prevent sectarian content and misinformation.
Deputy commissioners and district police officers have been directed to personally oversee all arrangements, while commissioners and regional police officers will monitor the situation and submit regular reports to the Home Department.
