President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, has arrived in Tianjin, People’s Republic of China, on a four-day working visit to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit and attend ceremonies marking the 80th anniversary of Victory.

Ahead of his arrival, leading Chinese newspapers published an article authored by the Turkmen leader titled “Turkmenistan–China: Along the Path of Strengthening Friendship and Cooperation.” The piece, featured in the widely circulated People’s Daily, highlighted the depth of Turkmen–Chinese ties and sparked strong interest among Chinese readers.

In the article, President Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the opportunity to address millions through Chinese media, stressing the importance of showcasing the long-standing partnership between the two nations.

He noted that over the past 30 years, Turkmenistan and China have steadily strengthened their bilateral relations, building effective political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation. Regular contacts between the leaders of both states and a solid legal foundation have provided stability and continuity in this partnership.

The President recalled key milestones, including the signing of a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership in Ashgabat in 2013, followed by another declaration in 2014 to deepen these ties. Together with other key agreements, these documents have reinforced the framework for long-term cooperation.

The article also underscored Turkmenistan and China’s successful collaboration in areas such as trade, transport and logistics, and cultural exchange, while highlighting their growing role in regional initiatives, including the Central Asia–China format.
