A division bench of the Peshawar High Court, comprising Justice Syed Arshad Ali and Justice Farah Jamshed, has barred the final decision on a recruitment advertisement for new officers in the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) and issued notices to the relevant authorities seeking a response.

Petitioner’s counsel, Advocate Yousaf Khan, informed the court that PESCO had advertised vacancies for new officers and initiated the hiring process under a new policy stipulating that existing officers must resign from their posts if they apply.

He argued that this policy is unlawful and would adversely affect the petitioner.

In its written order from the previous hearing, the court directed that the recruitment process may continue, but no final appointments be made to the posts of Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Technical Officer, and Chief Supply Chain Management Officer. According to the petitioner, he is eligible for appointments to the positions of Chief Commercial Officer, Chief Information Officer, Chief Legal Officer, and Chief Technical Officer, and any new appointments to these roles would directly impact him.

The court has sought replies from the concerned authorities before proceeding further.
