The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged a complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) against match referee Andy Pycroft following Sunday’s Asia Cup fixture between Pakistan and India.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced on Monday that the complaint concerns “violations of the ICC Code of Conduct and the MCC Laws relating to the Spirit of Cricket.” He added that the board has requested Pycroft’s immediate removal from the tournament.
India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in the high-profile match, with Kuldeep Yadav leading the bowling attack and captain Suryakumar Yadav sealing the win with a six.
Controversy arose afterward as Indian players left the field without shaking hands with their Pakistani counterparts. Suryakumar later said the decision was in line with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and government directives, dedicating the victory to the Indian armed forces and victims of the recent Pahalgam attack.
In response, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha skipped the post-match ceremony, while coach Mike Hesson said the team had been “keen to engage and shake hands” but was disappointed that it did not happen.
The two sides have not played a bilateral series since 2008, with their rare encounters in multination tournaments often marked by political and diplomatic tensions.
