ISLAMABAD: The foreign ministers of Pakistan and seven other countries on Tuesday endorsed US President Donald Trump’s newly unveiled proposal to end the war in Gaza, pledging support for a framework they said could lead to lasting peace and stability in the region.

In a joint statement issued after Trump outlined his 20-point initiative in Washington, the ministers of Pakistan, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt described the plan as a “serious and sincere effort” to halt the conflict and rebuild Gaza. They expressed confidence in Washington’s role as a mediator and stressed that a durable solution would require the full partnership of the United States.

The statement highlighted several key elements of the proposal, including assurances against the forced displacement of Palestinians, a pledge to block any annexation of the West Bank, and the commitment to channel humanitarian aid into Gaza without restrictions.

It also cited provisions for the release of hostages, phased Israeli withdrawal, and a mechanism to ensure the security of all parties.

The ministers reiterated their readiness to work constructively with the US and the relevant stakeholders to finalise the agreement and oversee its implementation. They said the goal must be to achieve a “just and comprehensive peace” based on a two-state framework, under which Gaza would be integrated with the West Bank in a sovereign Palestinian state in line with international law.

According to the statement, such an outcome would not only address the immediate crisis but also establish the foundation for long-term security and stability across the region.
