Pakistan has lodged a formal complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) following Fakhar Zaman’s controversial dismissal against India in the Asia Cup.
The incident occurred when Sri Lankan TV umpire Ruchira Palliyaguruge ruled Fakhar caught behind, a decision that sparked debate among players, commentators, and fans. Television replays appeared to suggest the ball may have touched the ground before being taken, raising questions about the accuracy of the verdict.
Team manager Naveed Akram Cheema immediately approached match referee Andy Pycroft after the game to register Pakistan’s concerns. Sources confirmed that the team also included the matter in captain’s match report, stressing that the TV umpire’s call had a decisive impact on their innings and shifted the momentum of the match.
Pakistan’s management later submitted a formal complaint to ICC umpires and match officials, stating that Fakhar was “not out” and that the ruling unfairly influenced the contest. Despite their disappointment, the players were praised for maintaining professionalism and continuing to focus on the game.
