The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Sindh Assembly has suspended the section officer General Administration of the College Education Department for allegedly exceeding his authority by signing audit working papers — an act reserved solely for the departmental secretary.

The watchdog has also directed the secretary of the College Education Department to appoint a Grade-19 additional secretary as the designated focal person for all PAC-related matters.

The PAC took these decisions in a meeting chaired by its Chairman, Nisar Khuhro. Attendees included member Qasim Soomro, Secretary College Education Shahab Ansari, Chief Engineer Education Works, and other senior officials. The committee reviewed audit paras pertaining to the Works Services Wing of the department for the fiscal year 2024-25. The PAC voiced dissatisfaction over the department’s failure to furnish complete documentation for previously settled audit observations.
