A four-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped from Hijrat Colony, Civil Lines, on August 25, has been recovered from Quetta, bringing immense relief and joy to her family.
Maira, daughter of Israr Ahmed, had gone missing while playing outside her home in Hijrat Colony, at around 7pm. The following day, Civil Lines police registered a kidnapping case on the complaint of her father and later handed it over to the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) for investigation.
After weeks of search efforts, Maira’s father received a call on Wednesday from a man named Attaullah, a resident of Quetta, who informed him that the missing girl was with his family. He even made a video call, showing Maira to confirm her identity. Overwhelmed with joy, the family immediately notified police, CPLC, and other concerned authorities.
Israr Ahmed told The Express Tribune that he, accompanied by AVCC officials, travelled to Quetta to bring his daughter home and expected to return to Karachi on Friday.
Explaining how the girl reached Quetta, Israr said that Maira was found crying on a roadside near Hub Chowki by a local family who took her in. A woman from that family, who later went to Quetta for a wedding, brought Maira along. There, she told her brother Attaullah about the girl, and after seeing social media posts about Maira’s disappearance, he contacted her parents to reunite them.
Investigations into the alleged kidnappers and their possible involvement are ongoing.
