Torrential rains and flash floods have battered Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killing 194 people in the past 24 hours alone.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported that the latest casualties included 158 men, 19 women, and 17 children. The overall death toll in the province has now crossed 300. At least 23 others were injured, 118 houses destroyed, and 43 livestock perished. Search and rescue teams remain active in the worst-hit areas.
Relief operations
On the Prime Minister’s orders, an NDMA team has arrived in Peshawar to coordinate relief with the provincial government, civil bodies, and the military. Supplies are being dispatched, and efforts are being monitored round the clock to ensure swift assistance.
Travel advisory
Authorities have warned of further landslides in northern districts. Locals and tourists are advised to avoid traveling to the region for the next five to six days. The NDMA has urged residents to stay cautious around rivers, streams, and unstable slopes.
Army’s role
The Pakistan Army is assisting in flood-hit areas, clearing blocked roads and supporting relief operations. The military has pledged to continue aid until normal life is restored.
“Our priority is to protect lives and deliver immediate relief,” said an NDMA spokesperson.
