ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in the federal capital on Monday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in connection with an audio leak case, after he failed to appear for the hearing.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Nasr Minallah Baloch presided over the proceedings. The court directed that Gandapur be arrested and produced before it, while adjourning the case until November 5. The case is registered at Islamabad’s Golra Police Station.

This is not the first time the chief minister has faced arrest warrants in recent days. Last week, a sessions court upheld warrants against him in a separate case concerning the alleged recovery of liquor and illegal weapons.

That matter, registered at Bara Kahu Police Station, was heard by Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti. Gandapur again failed to appear, leading the court to extend the warrants and adjourn proceedings until October 4.

The KP chief minister, a senior figure in the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, has yet to comment publicly on the orders.
