Kate Middleton and Prince William face backlash as latest move forces nearby evictions

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s new family home, Fort Lodge in Windsor Great Park, has reportedly led to two nearby families being asked to move out. The royal couple, along with their three children—Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7—are planning to make Fort Lodge their “forever home,” with a move scheduled for later this year.

According to The Daily Mail, the two families, who had been tenants of Crown Estate cottages near the mansion, were told to vacate their properties earlier this summer. “They were not expecting it,” a source claimed. “They were told to move out, but I guess they were given somewhere else to go.”

The families were living in cottages in close proximity to Fort Lodge, and the source explained that the royals’ arrival meant the properties could no longer be occupied by other tenants.

Although the families were not given formal eviction notices, they have since relocated to similar or better housing in the area. The move comes as Prince William and Kate seek a fresh start at Fort Lodge after a challenging period at their current residence, Adelaide Cottage, where they’ve lived since 2022.

A source explained that Windsor had become the couple’s home, and the move to Fort Lodge would allow for more space and a more peaceful environment following Kate’s cancer treatment. The family hopes to continue their life in Windsor while keeping their three children close to their school, Lambrook.

While the royal couple is footing the bill for the move themselves, the decision to relocate highlights their desire to leave behind the difficult times they faced in the past couple of years.
