Heavy traffic congestion is likely between 5 pm and 2 am.

The Karachi traffic police have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel on the route from Civic Center to National Stadium today due to Independence Day events.

According to the traffic police, a colourful Independence Day ceremony will be held at the National Stadium on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

The event will begin at 6 pm, with heavy traffic expected on all routes leading to the stadium from 5 pm onwards.

Officials warned that heavy traffic congestion is likely between 5 pm and 2 am. Citizens are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and avoid the Civic Center–National Stadium route during these hours.

The nation is celebrating Independence Day with renewed patriotic spirit following the armed forces’ strong retaliatory response to an Indian military offensive.

In April, India accused Pakistan of involvement in the Pahalgam attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir (IIOK). Islamabad categorically denied the allegations and offered New Delhi a transparent, unbiased investigation. However, India’s far-right government did not pursue a meaningful process and instead resorted to military offensive.

On the night of May 6-7, India escalated the conflict with Pakistan by targeting innocent civilians in a highly offensive military assault on three different areas, including Muzaffarabad and Kotli in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, and Bahawalpur.

During this cross-border military incursion, Pakistani forces were on high alert and successfully foiled the Indian attempt by downing six jets, including three Rafales, and by simultaneously jamming the communication system of Indian military satellites.

The Indian offensive attempts continued after India sent Israeli drones into Pakistani territory, which were subsequently shot down by Pakistan.

In the early hours of Saturday, Pakistan launched a retaliatory military operation titled ‘Bunyanum Marsoos’ following an Indian air strike targeting multiple sites in Punjab province, including Nur Khan Air Base, Shorkot Air Base, and Murid Air Base with air-to-ground missiles during overnight operations between Friday and Saturday.

India suffered substantial losses, including damage to numerous airbases at Suratgarh, Sirsa, Nalia, Adampur, Bhatinda, Barnala, Halwara, Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Udhampur, Mamoon, Ambala, and Pathankot.

Additionally, storage facilities for BrahMos missiles in Beas and Nagrota, which had been used to fire upon Pakistan and kill innocent civilians including children, were destroyed. The Pakistan Air Force also successfully targeted an S-400 system located at Adampur.
