KARACHI: Weather expert Jawad Memon has forecast another spell of rain in Karachi today (Thursday) as the ongoing monsoon system persists.

He said thunderclouds are expected to form between 12:30pm and 1:00pm, with showers likely in the afternoon, evening, and night. Some areas may see moderate rainfall, while others could face heavy downpours, similar to Wednesday’s conditions.

Memon noted that the current system may weaken from Friday, but light to moderate showers are expected to continue for a few more days. A stronger monsoon system is also projected to reach Sindh around August 29–30.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the minimum temperature recorded today was 29°C with 81% humidity, while southeasterly winds were blowing at 3 km/h. Moderate rain with thunder has been forecast for most parts of Karachi in the next 24 hours, with the possibility of heavy showers in some localities.

In the last 24 hours, Orangi Town received the highest rainfall at 113 mm. Other areas included Faisal Base 43 mm, Korangi 36 mm, Keamari 31 mm, Jinnah Terminal 28 mm, University Road and Masroor Base 24 mm each, DHA Phase 2 and the old airport area 21 mm, Gulshan-e-Hadeed 20 mm, Nazimabad 19 mm, Surjani Town and Saadi Town 16 mm each, North Karachi 9 mm, and Gulshan-e-Maymar 7 mm.
