Khalil al-Hayya, a senior Hamas leader and head of the ceasefire negotiation team who survived the Israeli attack, has appeared in public for the first time.
Last month, Israel attempted to target several Palestinian leaders, including Khalil al-Hayya, in an airstrike in the Qatari capital, Doha. The Israeli military claimed that Khalil al-Hayya was killed in the operation, but Hamas quickly denied the news.
Now, in an interview with Arab TV, Khalil al-Hayya confirmed his survival and said that his son and his chief of staff were killed in the attack.
According to Hamas, Khalil al-Hayya himself led the funeral prayers for his son and other martyrs.
It should be noted that Israel’s attack on Qatar was severely criticized internationally, while US President Donald Trump announced that Israel would not carry out any further operations in Qatar in the future.
Khalil al-Hayyah’s appearance is being seen as a clear denial of Israeli claims and, according to analysts, it is a symbolic victory for Hamas.
