Irregularities worth Rs165 billion revealed in telecommunications sector

Islamabad: Irregularities worth more than Rs 165 billion have been revealed in the telecommunications sector.

According to Express, the Auditor General’s audit report for the financial year 2023-24 has revealed non-recovery of Rs 157 billion in 36 cases.

According to the report, 14 violations of PEPRA laws cost the treasury Rs 3.74 billion, more than Rs 5 billion was lost due to service delivery issues, and irregularities worth Rs 134.1 million were found in 6 cases related to human resources.

The Auditor General’s report for the financial year 2023-24 has identified 58 audit irregularities. The audit report also identified the recovery of Rs 103.70 billion. Only Rs 4.5 billion has been recovered from January to December 2024.
