TEHRAN: Afsaneh Nadipour, an Iranian career diplomat, was elected on Wednesday as a member of the Advisory Committee of the United Nations Human Rights Council upon a unanimous decision by the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.
Nadipour is the former Iranian ambassador to Denmark and a senior diplomat of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Ali Bahreini, Iran’s ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva, wrote in a post on his X account, while congratulating Afsaneh Nadipour on her election, “This is the first time since the establishment of the UN Human Rights Council that a representative from our country has become a member of the Human Rights Council’s Advisory Committee.”
