Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has said that the threat of water has reduced but has not been averted. There is a fear of flooding again. The bodies of Indian people have also been swept away in the water.

Speaking exclusively to Express News in Sialkot, he said that the current rainfall is unprecedented in the recent past. Never before has so much water come. There are possibilities of more water being released by India.

The Defense Minister said that India has released water twice before, which they have told us. If there is more rain, the threat has not been averted yet. The water has receded to a considerable extent. Water is still standing in the houses near the drains. The threat of water has reduced but has not been averted. There is a fear of flooding again.

Khawaja Asif said that the Municipal Corporation is making efforts to drain the water as soon as possible. The main reason for the water standing is the dead bodies of cattle and garbage.

He said that the citizens told me that the bodies of Indian people have also been washed away in the water coming from India.

He said that the amount of water that has come now is unprecedented in the past. Sialkot city has received about 350 millimeters of rain. This is the first time since 1976 that so much rain has fallen yesterday. It will take some time to deal with this situation.

The Defense Minister said that I believe that there was no preparation for such torrential rains in this matter. I believe that until the encroachments are removed in the rivers and canals in the cities, such a situation will continue.

Khawaja Asif said that the two or three canals that pass through our Sialkot contain the filth of the whole world. I believe that it is the fault of the administration that does not see this. If changes are made in the sewage system, we can deal with the upcoming rains.

Khawaja Asif made an emergency visit to Nala One and reviewed the water flow and dangers in the low-lying areas.

Khawaja Asif directed the relevant institutions to take immediate action and said that saving the people from loss of life and property is the top priority, the government and the administration stand with the people in this difficult time.
