ISLAMABAD: PTI founder Imran Khan delivered a firm message to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Saturday, opposing any military operation in the province and its tribal areas.
Imran’s statement, shared on his X account, emphasized that military operations lead to destruction and should be avoided. He advocated for resolving issues through dialogue, particularly with neighboring Afghanistan, to foster better relations.
In response, Gandapur stated that, in alignment with Imran’s guidance, he had initiated the first of several jirgas aimed at restoring law and order in the province.
In other developments, Imran Khan, who remains incarcerated at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, confirmed that he has been allowed to speak with his sons, who live in London, and has access to newspapers in his prison cell. During a hearing of the Toshakhana II case, Imran stated that he had spoken to his sons for over an hour.
While at the hearing, a key witness’s testimony was recorded, and further proceedings were scheduled for August 6. Imran also clarified that his sons would visit Pakistan solely to meet him and would not engage in politics or protests, contrary to previous claims made by his sister Aleema Khan regarding their involvement in political activities.
Aleema clarified the confusion over her nephews’ visit, explaining that both sons had applied for their National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) and visas, and the necessary applications had been submitted to the Ministry of Interior.
