WAZIRABAD: A young woman named Rukhsar lost her life in Wazirabad after suffering severe acid burns inflicted shortly after her wedding. Police confirmed her death on Friday, following days of treatment.

According to her brother, a violent dispute broke out when Rukhsar returned to her in-laws’ home without bringing clothes for her husband’s family as part of the dowry. He alleged that her husband, Altaf, and his mother forced her to drink acid on September 28, leaving her critically injured.

Altaf, however, denied the allegations, claiming that Rukhsar took the acid herself. Authorities have sent the body for post-mortem examination and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to her death.
