ISLAMABAD: Gwadar celebrated World Space Week 2025 with a series of vibrant educational and scientific activities across the city, concluding with a grand ceremony at Gwadar Grammar School, Gwadar Pro reported on Sunday.

The week-long celebrations attracted large participation from students, teachers, parents, and local officials, highlighting growing interest in science and technology among the city’s youth.

The concluding ceremony at Gwadar Grammar School was attended by Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Gwadar Prof. Dr. Manzoor Ahmed Baloch, Director General of Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Moeen-ur-Rehman, school heads, teachers, and hundreds of students.

A science exhibition featuring student-made models and projects was the centerpiece of the event.

Earlier, in the week DG GDA Moeen-ur-Rehman visited the exhibition at the Syed Zahoor Shah Hashmi Hall, where students presented space-related models and research projects.

He praised their creativity and scientific curiosity, calling their efforts a promising sign for Gwadar’s educational landscape. Certificates were distributed to outstanding students during the visit.

On Friday, students and teachers from several institutions, including GDA Public School, Bahria Model College, The Oasis School, Model High School Gwadar, and New Town Grammar School, attended the exhibition.

Jury members, including Pakistan Telecommunication Authority officials and engineering experts, evaluated the projects and announced that winners would be honored at the closing ceremony.

Throughout the week, a range of competitions that included quizzes, spelling bees, debates on “Human Settlement in Space,” painting, and poster design contests were conducted to encourage students to engage with science in creative ways.

A total of 58 models created by more than 120 students were showcased, earning praise from visitors for their innovative ideas.

The celebrations began on October 4 with an awareness walk from Marine Drive to Paddi Zar Road. Led by Principal Nasir Rahim Sohrabi and teachers, students carried colorful placards and wore space-themed costumes, drawing public attention to space exploration and science.

Additional events were held at Government Girls Degree College Gwadar, where MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch lauded female students’ participation.

Chairman Gwadar Port Authority Noor-ul-Haq Baloch also visited the exhibition, encouraging students to pursue science and technology as tools for progress.
