A flash flood in the Malir River caused significant damage to the under-construction Shahrah-e-Bhutto at Malir Jam Goth. The floodwaters swept through the road, creating a gap several feet wide and deep.
According to locals, the incident occurred on the night of Tuesday–Wednesday. The police cordoned off the area with safety ropes to prevent anyone from accessing the road. Locals claim that the road was built on the foundation of the Jam Goth Dam without properly altering its structure.
When the flash flood hit the dam, the road could not withstand the water pressure and was washed away. The incident has raised concerns about the quality and planning of the road’s construction.

MQM-Pakistan has expressed deep concern over the collapse of multiple sections of Shahrah-e-Bhutto and New Hub Canal during recent rains. The party leaders attribute these failures to the “bogus projects” of the PPP-led government’s corrupt practices.
They claim that the PPP’s projects could not withstand the initial pressure of rainfall, resulting in significant damage to both infrastructure projects.
MQM-P pointed out that the New Hub Canal, constructed at a cost of Rs1.2 billion, did not last 12 weeks and failed to benefit the people of District West and Keamari. It demanded that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif initiate an immediate investigation into the large-scale corruption involved in these projects.
