An elderly man who had gone to sell an ox, calf and bullock cart was abducted and strangled to death by unidentified persons, who later dumped his body in vacant land.

The police have registered a case under charges of abduction and murder and begun searching for the killers.

According to the police, Muhammad Atiq, a resident of Chak No. 163-RB, lodged an FIR stating that his father-in-law, 60-year-old Afzal, had gone to a mosque to offer prayers but not returned.

During a search, a resident of the area, Arshad, told him that Afzal had accompanied him from the mosque to his farmhouse. He stated that the missing man had sold him an ox and a calf along with a bullock cart for Rs300,000.

After receiving the amount from him, Afzal headed towards his outhouse but had gone missing. It appeared that unidentified persons abducted Afzal, snatched the money from him, strangled him and dumped his body in a vacant piece of land.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police officers reached the spot, took the body into custody for completing the legal formalities and handed it over to the family afterwards.

A case has been registered under Sections 365 and 302 of the Pak8stan Penal Code and an investigation is under way.
