In yet another accident by a dumper truck in Thatta district, two men and a child riding on a motorbike were killed on Sunday on Thatta-Sujawal road. The deceased, Irshad Shah, Karo Aijaz Shah and Shahnaz, daughter of Ameer Shah, were residents of Bulri Shah Kareem taluka of Tando Muhammad Khan district. The truck ran over the motorbike, completely destroying the two-wheeler.

This was the second identical incident in around a week as a dumper truck had ran over three young men on the same road, killing them all. Muhammad Bux Khoso, a local resident who led a protest after the accident, told the police and the media that the dumper driver escaped along with his vehicle after hitting the motorbike.

However, he added, local men on several motorbikes chased the truck, stopped it and caught its driver, identified as Maila Marwat Khan, who was later handed over to the police. Police impounded the truck and took the suspect into custody, but the incident’s FIR could not be registered by the evening. The bodies were shifted to government hospital Makli for postmortem. Protesters accused the police for allowing trucks and their unruly drivers to roam through the city while putting lives of the citizens at risk.
