Decision to award top national awards to Shahid Afridi and other players

Lahore: The highest national award has been announced for those who have shown outstanding performance in various sports, including former national cricket team captain Shahid Afridi.

The government releases the list of highest national awardees for sports in various fields every year on Independence Day.

This time, former captain Shahid Khan Afridi, mountaineer Shahroz Kashif, Malik Muhammad Atta (late) equestrian, former women cricketer Sana Mir and Haider Ali in discus throw will be awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz.

Hamza Khan in squash, Mohsin Nawaz in shooting and Rashid Malik in tennis will receive the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.

Shahzeb Rind in karate and Muhammad Sajjad in kabaddi will receive the Pride of Performance Award. The ceremony will be held on March 23 next year.
