LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Saturday announced the launch of a special relief card for flood victims along with the initiation of a province-wide flood survey campaign to assess damages to houses, agricultural land, and livestock.
Addressing a special ceremony at Alhamra Cultural Complex, she inaugurated a digital survey portal and personally administered the oath to 2,200 survey teams, calling them her “eyes, ears, hands, and arms” in the service of the people.

The Punjab chief minister said the campaign would deploy 10,000 personnel across 27 districts, with teams comprising officials from the Revenue, Agriculture, Livestock, district administration, and Pakistan Army. She stressed that their mission was not merely to collect data but to treat the work as an act of worship, aimed at healing the wounds of affected families. “Serving suffering humanity is the greatest blessing,” she remarked, urging teams to remain impartial, avoid pressure, and ensure every loss is recorded fairly.
Unveiling the compensation package, the Chief Minister announced that families would receive Rs1 million for a fully destroyed house, Rs500,000 for a partially damaged house, Rs500,000 for the loss of large livestock, Rs50,000 for the loss of small livestock, and Rs20,000 per acre for farmers owning up to 12 acres. She pledged that “every loss will be fully compensated” and promised to make arrangements for shelter and food for displaced families during the coming winter.

Recalling her own role during the devastating floods, Maryam Nawaz said she personally monitored rescue operations, staying awake through the nights and checking reports every 15 minutes. “People knew their Chief Minister was not sleeping while they were in distress,” she said, adding that she visited flood-hit areas herself to supervise relief efforts. Paying tribute to frontline workers, she saluted officers including late AC Pattoki Furqan Ahmed, who continued to perform his duties despite battling cancer, and PDMA officer Abdul Rehman, who lost his life in service.
She highlighted that Punjab carried out the largest evacuation, rescue, and relief operation in Pakistan’s history, relocating 2.6 million people and saving 2 million livestock through 37,000 boat trips. The province also used thermal drones, AI, and 5G cameras to identify stranded victims, making it the first in the country to adopt such technology. Relief camps, mobile clinics, and veterinary services were established on an unprecedented scale, with the UN confirming that Punjab provided 76 percent of all food relief to flood-affected populations.
CM Maryam Nawaz praised the dedication of her cabinet, ministers, district administration, police, Rescue 1122, Army, Navy, and Livestock Department, noting that many officials worked 15-hour shifts, often without rest, food, or shelter, until aid reached victims. She also thanked Pir Pagara for acknowledging Punjab’s effective response and expressed pride that other provinces looked to Punjab as a model.
The chief minister vowed to rebuild infrastructure, restore damaged roads, continue development projects, and deliver green buses to urban centers. “Punjab is moving forward, creating new traditions of success. Insha’Allah, soon we will say that every flood victim has been compensated and rehabilitated,” she said.
