BUENOS AIRES: Argentine President Javier Melaye was stoned by citizens in the capital Buenos Aires during an election campaign, which was blamed on the opposition.

According to a foreign news agency report, Argentine President Javier Melaye was stoned by protesters during a campaign for local elections scheduled for September 7, but he was unharmed.

The report said that Javier Melaye was addressing supporters gathered in the Lomas de Zomara area from the roof of his car when a group of protesters threw stones at the president, but security immediately intervened.

It was reported that security immediately removed President Javier Melaye from the vehicle and transferred him to an armored car.

According to the report, the Argentine President was unharmed in the stone-throwing, but two citizens were injured.

Presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni said that none of the members traveling with the president were harmed, but he blamed the attack on the Peronist opposition.

The government responded by saying that the attack was carried out by a political group affiliated with former President Cristina Fernandez.

It should be noted that the municipal elections in the province of Buenos Aires on September 7 are a test for President Javier.

According to political analysts, the results of the municipal elections in the most populous province of Buenos Aires in Argentina will have an impact on local and national politics, where the ruling Libertad Avanza party is competing with the opposition Peronist party.
