Beijing, September 3, 2025 — China showcased its military strength on Wednesday with the country’s largest-ever parade, held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, marking the end of World War II and China’s role in the World Anti-Fascist War.

President Xi Jinping, flanked by Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, inspected massed troops and weaponry along Changan Avenue from an open-top limousine before addressing dignitaries in Tiananmen Square. Xi hailed China’s “unstoppable rejuvenation” while warning that the world must choose between peace or war.

The display featured thousands of soldiers in immaculate formation, cutting-edge weapons, and a dramatic flypast of warplanes and helicopters forming the number “80” in the sky.

Highlights of the parade included:

  • Strategic missiles, including the DF-31BJ intercontinental and DF-61 nuclear systems.

  • Hypersonic YJ-17 and YJ-19 anti-ship missiles.

  • Laser weapons, unmanned drones, and ship-based helicopters.

  • Aerial demonstrations capped by a YY-20A refueling tanker.

Crowds of Beijing residents lined the streets to witness the spectacle, while balloons and flags filled the air in a colorful finale. Later, Xi delivered a keynote speech at the Great Hall of the People, underscoring China’s global aspirations and growing military power.
