Veteran actress Bushra Ansari has addressed the wave of online criticism directed at her, following remarks by Lahore-based comedian Rubi Anum, who suggested that Ansari should quit vlogging and “take rest at this age.” The comment triggered backlash, with many social media users rallying in support of the senior star.
Responding to the controversy, Bushra Ansari said she chooses not to let negativity affect her. “There was a lot being said about me, but I laughed at it. I don’t even know her, I only saw a few clips. Thank God our legends like Moin Akhtar, Qazi Wajid, and Zia Mohyeddin are not around to face this kind of disrespect, because nowadays people target even icons,” she noted.
Ansari emphasized the need for compassion in criticism. “Reviewers should adopt a softer tone. Our drama industry already works with limited resources and faces many constraints. Instead of harsh criticism, young actors deserve constructive feedback,” she said.
She further highlighted the power of words, stating, “Your tongue shapes your life. If you use it harshly, it harms you, but if you use it wisely, it makes you positive, loving, and beautiful. I saw people trolling Shaista Lodhi for her looks. With filters and surgeries so common, why feel jealous? It’s their money and their choice.”
Addressing her fellow senior artists, Ansari urged unity and respect within the industry. “We should not mock our own fraternity. I never take part in such negativity. It’s fine to point out flaws, but always with kindness.”
