An official of the building control department was caught red-handed accepting a bribe after a citizen filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Department.

According to a report by anti-corruption sources, citizen Waheed Ahmed had submitted a complaint to the Director of Anti-Corruption, Faisalabad Region, alleging that Municipal Corporation’s building inspector, Amir Ali, had demanded a bribe of Rs50,000.

The money was allegedly intended for preparing a house map and obtaining its approval from the relevant authority.

Based on the complaint, Sarfraz Ahmad Waraich, Director of the Anti-Corruption Faisalabad Region, led an operation with a magistrate.

The team caught the building inspector in the act as soon as Waheed Ahmed handed over the money. The inspector was immediately arrested, and a case has been registered against him.
