A police constable was abducted from a picket in Kashmore-Kandhkot district on Saturday in another alleged grim display of lawlessness in parts of upper Sindh. The kidnapping was carried out by a notorious bandit, Khadim Bhayo alias Khadu, who later posted a video on social media showing the abducted officer, Fazlur Rehman Khoso, standing beside him and pleading for his release.

According to police, armed men attacked the picket near the Qambrani Lari area along the Indus Highway, within the jurisdiction of B-Section police station. The attackers opened fire and took the constable away with ease.

In the video, Bhayo threatened that if one of his arrested associates was not released, he would kidnap more policemen and step up robberies across the district. Despite a police contingent reaching the scene shortly after the incident, the bandits had already escaped. Search operations were launched in the nearby riverine areas, but by evening, no breakthrough had been reported. An FIR had yet to be registered at the time of filing this report.

In a separate incident the same day, two men from the Bangwar community were killed and one injured in an attack allegedly carried out by members of the Domki community. The assailants, travelling in a car, opened fire on Arbelo, Gul Hassan, and Baksh Ali, who were on a motorcycle. Arbelo and Gul Hassan died on the spot, while Baksh Ali was hospitalised.

Adding to the outrage, two individuals from the Domki community later released a video on social media claiming responsibility for the attack and celebrating the killings.

These incidents have once again highlighted the deteriorating law and order situation in Sindh’s Sukkur and Larkana divisions, where tribal conflicts and banditry continue to operate with impunity.
