The Peshawar Accountability Court has sent Senior Auditor Radiullah of the Accountant General’s Office to jail on a 14-day judicial remand after completion of investigation in the Kohistan mega corruption scandal.

The accused was produced before Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Zafar Khan on Saturday. During the hearing, the court was informed that Radiullah, serving as Senior Auditor in the AG Office, was found in possession of both movable and immovable assets, while his bank accounts showed transactions worth millions of rupees.

The investigating officer told the court that interrogation of the accused had been completed and no further physical remand was required.

After hearing arguments, the court ordered that the accused be sent to jail on judicial remand for 14 days.

It may be noted that in the Upper Kohistan scandal, over Rs40 billion was allegedly withdrawn from the national exchequer under the guise of development schemes.

Officials of the Communication and Works Department, the Accounts Office, the National Bank Dasu branch, along with private contractors and construction firms, are also implicated in the case.
