ISLAMABAD – Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Islamabad, where the two discussed regional security, counter-terrorism, and issues of mutual interest, ARY News reported quoting ISPR.
Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to deepen the all-weather strategic partnership and enhance cooperation at regional and global levels. Wang Yi reiterated China’s firm support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and development, while General Munir expressed gratitude for Beijing’s consistent backing.
The meeting concluded with a pledge to work jointly for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also met Wang Yi and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with China in trade, investment, ICT, agriculture, industrialization, and mineral development.
The premier highlighted the key role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Pakistan’s socio-economic progress and regional connectivity, expressing satisfaction over progress in its second phase.
He thanked China’s leadership and people for their unwavering support, reaffirming Pakistan’s strong backing for China on its core issues and commitment to further strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
