Teachers deployed to reopen historic Kali Mori College

The Sindh College Education Department has temporarily deployed 20 teachers to Hyderabad’s historic Government Kali Mori College to resume academic activities after a long hiatus.

Most of the assigned teachers — including associate professors, assistant professors, and lecturers — are currently posted at various government colleges in Karachi. However, under the “allow to work” policy, they will now begin teaching at Kali Mori College. Due to the college’s lack of a dedicated sanctioned fund (SNE), the teachers will continue receiving salaries from their parent institutions.

Kali Mori College was granted university status nearly a decade ago when it marked its 100th anniversary. Following its upgradation, the college section was discontinued, and its SNE was redistributed to other colleges. However, this year, the college resumed admissions, marking a significant step towards restoring its academic legacy.

Director general colleges confirmed that approximately 800 students have been admitted to various faculties at the college for the current academic year.

The move aims to revive the academic spirit of the century-old institution and ensure that enrolled students have access to qualified teaching staff.
