A seven-day anti-polio campaign was launched in Karachi on Monday, with Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal personally administering drops to children in the Super Highway area, marking the start of the drive.

While the campaign aims to vaccinate thousands of children, the federal health ministry has revealed that a significant number of parents are still refusing to allow polio vaccination. Mustafa Kamal said, “if parents refuse after all our efforts, they will have to bear the responsibility for their child’s lifelong disability,” Kamal said firmly.

The minister said that 78 out of Pakistan’s 156 districts still report the presence of the polio virus. He shared startling figures from the Super Highway area alone, where 27,000 children were denied polio drops by their guardians.
