After a video made rounds on social media showing a woman in an allegedly intoxicated state being mistreated and assaulted in Defence by a policeman, SSP South took notice and suspended him.
Officials reported that the woman, reportedly under the influence, was allegedly misbehaving with citizens and blocking their way in Defence, Phase 6, on Sunday night. Locals complained to Darakhshan police who arrived at the scene and took the woman in custody.
However, while she was being transported to the police station, she reportedly argued with Constable Naeem, who then misbehaved with her and physically assaulted her.
A video of the incident went viral on social media prompting SSP South, Mazhar Ali, to take notice and suspend Constable Naeem. Meanwhile, the woman, who was first taken to Darakhshan police station, was shifted to the Women police station. She was also sent to a hospital on Monday for a medical examination.
